Hundreds of children enjoy Golfway Festival!

Bring it on Brum 2023

Published on 22nd Aug 2023

Over 150 young people from community projects across Birmingham attended the Bring it on Brum Golfway Festival 2023, organised by the Golf Foundation and StreetGames.

Families and local youth groups enjoyed a day of Golfway fun at Cannon Hill Park, Edgbaston. The activities included skill games and GolfSixes holes, designed to introduce children to golf in a fun and accessible format. Children also received a drink and nutritious lunch as part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Local MP Steve McCabe attended the event and spoke with young people and community volunteers - as well as trying his hand at the Golfway skill games!

Steve McCabe MP said, "To see the impact that initiatives like this have on young people, and the smiles on their faces, it's fantastic. The Golfway equipment is great, sturdy and fun, exactly what is needed to get young people into golf."

Matt James, Area Lead for Bring It On Brum, commented, "Most of these children had never played golf before this initiative and would have never imagined that they could play golf. The Golfway equipment is great for the children's hand-eye coordination, teamwork and social skills. We're delighted to work with the Golf Foundation, StreetGames and Golfway and hope this programme can continue for many years."

Bring it on Brum is a Department for Education-funded programme designed for families in Birmingham to help children, young people and their parents have fulfilling, active, fun-filled and healthy school holidays. Bring it on Brum is the largest HAF scheme in the UK.

StreetGames is one of the UK's leading sport for development charities, aiming to transform lives and bring communities together through sport.

Projects such as Bring it on Brum serve a joint pledge by Golfway and Golf Foundation to introduce golf to as many young people as possible while creating a link to local golf clubs.

Nick Horrocks, Golfway Director of Business Development, said, "Events like this are brilliant and highlight the impact that golf can have on young people's lives, introduced in a safe and fun manner, with Golfway Play equipment. We are continually blown away at the impact our equipment is having. We would love to support more projects, if you are using Golfway Play equipment in your local community, get in touch as we would love to hear from you and collaborate on future events."
