The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) hosted over 30 physical education teachers from the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESM) at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The event aimed to introduce the Golf Foundation Unleash Your Drive in Schools Programme, supported by the R&A, featuring Golfway Play coaching equipment.
Cameron van Rooyen, EGF Director of Instruction, alongside Nick Horrocks, Partnerships Director at Golfway and Golf Development Advisor to the R&A, led a three-hour seminar centred on Golfway Play and its effectiveness when used for first-touch golf delivery and coaching.
The objective of the project is to increase participation in golf across the UAE, starting with schools integrating golf into their PE lessons, Emirates PGA teaching professionals will then collaborate with schools and establish a talent identification pathway.
Akram Skaik, Director General of the EGF commented: "We must continue to develop the sport of golf at all levels. We look forward to working with our partners, the UAE schools, and golf clubs to ensure the development and success of grassroots golf."
Nick Horrocks, Partnerships Director at Golfway said: "We are excited to be a part of this journey with the EGF to grow grassroots participation, the Golfway Play equipment allows teachers to integrate golf into the PE curriculum with ease."
