Golfway is proud to highlight the launch of the “Let’s Play Golf in Schools” programme, a bold and inspiring initiative designed to introduce golf in a fun, inclusive and accessible way to public primary school pupils in Nigeria. The programme, run by 2AT Limited under the leadership of Oluseyi Badmos (Seyi), made its debut in Ikeja, Lagos State, where three public primary schools - Ikeja Primary School, Central Primary School and Local Government Primary School - took part in the pilot phase.
A total of 60 pupils were introduced to golf through carefully structured sessions, utilising Golfway equipment to ensure an engaging and safe learning environment. The initiative aims to expand participation by increasing the number of schools involved and to identify talented pupils, gradually introducing them to traditional golf equipment, coaching and development pathways. Early results have been highly encouraging, with children showing excitement, confidence and notable aptitude for the sport - proof that, when given the opportunity, Nigerian youth can excel in golf.
Nick Horrocks, Business Development Director at Masters24/7, representing Golfway, said: "We are thrilled to see Golfway Play equipment being used to inspire young people in Nigeria. Seyi’s work demonstrates the impact structured golf programmes can have on children, both in developing their skills and boosting their confidence. This partnership aligns with our mission to make golf accessible, fun and inclusive worldwide."
Seyi, who runs the programme, added: "The response from the children has been amazing. They’ve shown great enthusiasm and surprising talent, and we’re excited to expand the programme to more schools. With the right support, we believe golf can become a sport that reaches and empowers young people across Nigeria."
Golfway will continue to support this initiative through equipment provision, programme development and coordination with key partners, including plans to engage with the R&A to generate further support and recognition for the programme. The long-term vision is to create sustainable pathways for talented young golfers, helping them progress from initial school-based experiences to structured coaching and development programmes.
